It seems Twitter no longer supports the practice of users sharing screenshots of tweets they see on the platform to other social networking sites, since several users have complained about being prompted to “share” or “copy” a tweet instead of simply taking a screenshot.
Twitter’s “share tweet” or “copy link” button appears whenever a user attempts to take a screenshot, which may be an attempt to encourage users to stay on Twitter and retweet rather than copying and pasting content from other social media sites like Whatsapp, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.
If a user on another service clicks on a link in a tweet, they will be taken to Twitter, increasing Twitter’s user base.
Evidently Twitter’s goal is to boost users to its network by forcing users to share tweet rather than screenshots, which would attract more people. However, most Twitter users are unhappy with the current adjustments, as evidenced by the tsunami of reactions throughout the platform.
