Password protection for PayPal accounts will soon be available exclusively on Apple devices, according to an announcement made by Paypal today. This will make logging into users’ PayPal accounts both simpler and more efficient. That means users of Apple products like the iPhone, iPad, and Mac will soon be able to access their online accounts without entering a password.
You can make this change by logging into your accounts as you normally do via desktop browser or mobile, then clicking on the ‘create passkey’ option after which you will authenticate by using face ID or Touch ID, and then passkeys will be automatically generated, thus replacing passwords. The World Wide Web Consortium and the FIDO Alliance are working together to develop passkeys, which will eventually take the role of passwords and provide a higher level of security while also being simpler to use.
Passkeys are currently only accessible to users in the United States, but in 2023, they will be made available in other countries as well.
